Ultra High Power Graphite Electrodes: The Key to Increased Steel Production

Graphite electrode is the main electrode of electric arc furnace smelting iron and steel, its main function is to convert electric energy into heat energy and melt the charge. The use of graphite electrodes is as follows:

1:selective electrode

The choice of graphite electrode should be determined according to the capacity of the electric furnace, the nature of the charge, the capacity of the transformer and other factors. In general, the larger the furnace capacity, the larger the electrode diameter.

2:Handling and transportation

The graphite electrode should be handled lightly during loading and unloading and transportation, and protect the thread to prevent impact and damage.

3:concatenate

Before connecting new electrodes and connectors, the threaded holes of the electrodes must be sucked clean with compressed air, and then the connectors and electrodes must be installed as required. When tightening electrodes and joints, use a torque wrench. The tightening torque should meet the requirements.

4:use

1, the wet graphite electrode should be dried before use.
2. Remove the foam protective cap on the spare graphite electrode hole and check whether the internal thread of the electrode hole is complete.
3, carefully screw the connector into the electrode hole of the graphite electrode (it is not recommended to replace the electrode directly on the furnace).
4, use compressed air to clean the spare graphite electrode surface and hole internal thread, no oil and water; Avoid cleaning with wire or metal brush cloth.
5. Screw the electrode sling (graphite spreader is recommended) into the electrode hole at the other end of the spare electrode.
6. When lifting the electrode, place the soft pad on one end of the standby electrode installation joint to prevent the ground from damaging the joint; Use the hook to extend into the sling ring, and lift the electrode smoothly to prevent the electrode from loosening from the B end or colliding with other fixed devices.
7. Hang the spare electrode above the electrode, align the electrode hole, and slowly descend; Rotate the spare electrode so that the screw hook rotates and decreases with the electrode; When the two ends of the electrode are separated from 10-20 mm, the exposed part of the electrode and the joint are cleaned again with compressed air; When the electrode is completely lowered, do not be too drastic, otherwise the thread of the electrode hole and the joint will be damaged by violent collision.
8. Use a torque wrench to tighten the spare electrode until the end faces of the two electrodes are in close contact (the gap between the electrode and the joint is less than 0.05mm).
