Ultra High Power Graphite Electrodes: The Key to Increased Steel Production

Even though each graphite electrode is an advanced piece of equipment and an excellent control system, it must still be operated according to production conditions and actual conditions. Therefore, people have been working on optimizing the production efficiency of graphite electrode. Graphite electrode steelmaking has evolved from a low-cost smelting method that can only produce a small amount of commercial grade steel to a smelting technology that can produce a variety of grades and high quality steel.

  Just as each steel mill is different and it ADAPTS to specific production conditions such as transportation and power conditions, each graphite electrode is different. Operators aim to meet specific process standards, so they adapt their own production methods to local or market conditions. This does not mean that graphite-electrode steelmaking has no future. In contrast, graphite electrode designers have developed a variety of graphite electrodes to improve graphite electrode steelmaking, many of which have been installed or operated.

Feeding control

The cost of charge (scrap, direct reduced iron, hot iron) may be the main factor affecting the cost of graphite electrode steelmaking. Therefore, many graphite electrode manufacturers in order to obtain certain product quality and seek better production costs, alternately change the charging mode.

EAF process and BOF technology

As soon as the furnace is filled with hot metal, the top immediately begins to blow oxygen to decarbonize the molten steel. After the decarbonization phase is complete, the oxygen gun is quickly removed from the furnace and the electrodes are immediately in place. Add DRI coolant to power supply continuously. The second stage is the refining stage and the furnace is the second stage. Therefore, the position of the graphite electrode is adjusted for the second furnace, and the steel can be produced only after the refining is completed in the furnace.
