Ultra High Power Graphite Electrodes: The Key to Increased Steel Production

In the process of using recarburizers, many factories tend to pay attention to the carburizing effect of recarburizers. In "synthetic cast iron" molten iron, recarburizers are one of the main sources of graphite nucleation and are often ignored. In fact, the addition of recarburizers is not simply to "increase C", but also to increase its graphite nucleation core, so that it can obtain better matrix structure and mechanical properties. In production practice, not all recarburizers can achieve this effect.
The production of qualified recarburizers requires strict selection of materials and then high-temperature graphitization treatment.

In the process, impurities such as sulfur, gas (nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen), ash, volatile matter, and moisture are not only reduced, but their purity is improved. It more effectively avoids the occurrence of nitrogen pores. At the same time, it also makes the carbon atoms change from the original disordered and disordered arrangement to an ordered layered arrangement, so that most of the carbon atoms can become a better driving force for graphitization.

The process is called graphitization. The surface of the recarburizer without high temperature graphitization is covered with a thin layer of viscous ash, so that the direct dissolution phenomenon in molten iron basically does not exist, and carbon can only gradually diffuse and dissolve in molten iron with the passage of time. The dissolution time of the recarburizer is increased, and the absorption of the recarburizer is reduced.

Only the graphitized recarburizer can dissolve carbon atoms rapidly in the molten iron, and when the molten iron solidifies, it is adsorbed on the nucleation core produced by the inoculation under the action of a strong nucleation driving force, and grows into graphite. If the selected recarburizer has not undergone high-temperature graphitization treatment, the graphitization driving ability of carbon atoms will be greatly reduced, and the graphitization ability will be weakened.

Even if the same amount of carbon can be achieved, the quality of the product is completely different.
There are many types of recarburizers, and there are many materials that can be used as cast iron recarburizers. The production process of recarburizers is also different, the quality is very different, and the price difference is also very large. Casting product geometry and quality requirements, the correct choice of recarburizer.
